Join the middle school summer sports and fitness program and participate in a wide variety of games and fun, fitness activities that may include soccer, flag football, basketball, volleyball, kickball, ultimate frisbee, and more! Additionally, we will be talking about how active lifestyles and healthy habits are good for the mind and body. Dress for active play, wear tennis shoes, and bring a filled water bottle.

    Through yoga and mediation we will build confidence, work on self-control, and show care and understanding for our friends and family. Learn ways to stay positive and show respect for others and our surroundings all while enjoying the outdoors at beautiful Golden Lake Park. Our bodies will become more flexible, stronger and achieve better balance. We will use calming music and positive words in class to help ourselves and others be their best self. Please bring a yoga mat or beach towel.

    Additional Need/Less Mobile/Caregiver Assisted. Move and groove, we are Zumba smooth. We love moving to Latin music and doing our bodies and minds some good. Feel the Latin soulfulness as we create our fitness style with the warmth of Latin rhythms. Wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes.

    Little Feet Huge Moves, let's get moving outdoors at beautiful Golden Lake Park. Little ones let loose and begin their journey to a healthy future at Zumba Kids Jr., the ultimate dance ń play party. Learn Latin dance steps and sequences to work our bodies and our brains while using imagination play Encanto through our dance moves. Please wear tennis shoes.

    Move your feet to the beat. Grab your friends and move like no one’s watching outdoors at beautiful Golden Lake Park. Zumba Kids is the dance fitness party where we play it loud and rock with friends to our own Latin rules. Active fun doing fitness moves while also learning about the countries where these dances come from, we incorporate peer leadership games and group encouragement. Please wear tennis shoes.
  • Confident Home Alone (Ages 8-11)

    Learn skills to be more comfortable home alone. Discover personal strengths and challenges as they relate to being unsupervised. We’ll focus on awareness of your surroundings both in and outside the house. Prepare for potential emergency situations for yourself and others who may be in your care. Basic First Aid covered. Discussions and demonstrations provide an overview on topics like cooking, emergency preparation and plans, weather emergencies (what to have on hand and what to be aware of), hazardous materials and their storage, strangers, spending time with friends, etc. Bring a snack.   • Confident Sitter (Ages 11+)

    Learn skills to be a confident babysitter. Prepare for potential emergency situations with an overview of choking and basic first aid specific to infants and children. Discover personal strengths and challenges as they relate to caring for children. Discussions and demonstrations provide an overview on how to interact positively with children, manage challenging behaviors, prepare meals and snacks, and diaper and bottle feeding. Bring a lunch with beverage and a doll. Cost $76, price includes bag and manual.   • Confident Sitter First Aid, CPR & AED Course (ages 11+)

    (prerequisite:Completion of Confident Sitter or basic babysitting experience) Take basic child care a step further in this small class featuring individual attention for each participant’s review and demonstration of skills. Successful completion will certify students in basic first aid, CPR and AED for infants, children, and adults - an important asset for a babysitter. Learn to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies including cardiac arrest, broken bones, bleeding, choking, allergic reactions, diabetic emergencies, etc. Must be committed to taking the topics seriously in order to receive certification indicating mastery of skills. Receive a Heartsaver CPR AED Completion Card and student workbook (a $22 value). Bring a lunch with beverage.   • More Than Pink (Entering Gr. 4-7)

    More Than Pink is a program to inspire girls to stay true to themselves and live free from societal stereotypes. This 7-week program innovatively weaves training for a 5K run with lessons that empower girls to celebrate their bodies, honor their voices, and embrace their gifts. All athletic abilities are welcome. More Than Pink works around summer schedules, camps and vacations. Even if girls are going to be gone for a day or for a week they are still able to participate in the program. Information that is missed on certain topics will be handed out to the girls so they will still get the information. A More Than Pink day consists of 50 minutes of a fun fitness activity and 50 minutes of a life lesson. This program meets twice a week for 2 hours. Topics may include self-worth, body image, nutrition, healthy relationships, money management and more. New topics and more fun will be added for 2022, so if you participated last year, or for a couple of years, you can come back! Grades 4/5 will meet together and grades 6/7 will be together. More Than Pink Goals: To help girls grow and develop physically, mentally, and socially with local community support. To empower girls to be true to themselves at home and school, with self-image, friends, and activities. To provide resources and tools to help them not succumb to peer pressure, live with less stress, and become who they want to be. To measure fitness goals throughout the 7-week program. The program builds throughout the summer and culminates in the girls, and others, running/walking a celebratory More Than Pink 5K on Wednesday, August 10 at 6:30pm (Aug. 11 rain backup). Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to join the run! This is not a competitive race but a celebration of empowerment and inspiration! Family and friends can pay $5 the night of the run to participate. Financial assistance is available. Girls will receive a t-shirt. Space is limited. We love to meet parents; please join us, with your daughter, for a fun open house on Monday, June 27th from 6-7 pm. Come dressed to participate in fun outside activities (rain back-up June 28).
  • Summer Cougar Strength Weight Training (Entering Gr. 6-12 Athletes)

    Cougar Strength is designed for ALL ATHLETES who want to develop explosive power, absolute strength, muscular endurance, speed, quickness, agility, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness. The program achieves these measured athletic qualities from the use of Olympic lifts and their variations along with other movement preparatory exercises; high-intensity, strength-building exercises; exercises containing plyometric properties; proper technique and teaching progressions; and researched program design and periodization. Cougar Strength is the only program in the school that connects ALL of our athletes and brings them into one room with a common goal - developing themselves as an athlete to help their teams be successful. Look for the session title that correlates with the grade level entering for fall of 2022-23 school year and experience level. Grade 11-12 Males: This upperclassmen group is high intensity, competitive, data driven and will be fast paced. It will be assumed that individuals in this group will have some previous strength training experience. Grade 9-12 Females: This high school group is high intensity, competitive, data driven and will move at a fast pace. Athletes will learn to follow a specific program for improving the athlete. Progressions and grouping will be developed based on the individuals experience. Grade 9-10 Males: This high school group is high intensity, competitive, data driven and will move at a fast pace. Athletes will learn to follow a specific program for improving the athlete. Progressions and groupings will be developed based on the individuals experience. Grade 8 Males/Females: This newly created 8th grade group will be geared for athletes that want to move at a faster pace, increased intensity and prepare you for what you will experience as a high school athlete. This group will be set up like our first three sessions but will spend more time establishing the foundation. Grade 8-12 Introductory Males/Females: If you are new to training or Cougar Strength, this is the class for you. Athletes will perform progressions to develop their abilities in Strength, Speed and Power. This group will help prepare the athlete for their high school seasons at a pace that meets their needs. Grade 6-7 Males/Females: This newly created 6th/7th grade group will introduce the athlete to the movements performed in Cougar Strength. Through a fun and high energy atmosphere, athletes will learn proper speed/agility mechanics, proper jumping mechanics & introduced to resistance training.
