  • *NEW* It's Showtime! Disney's Mary Poppins (Entering Grades 2-8)

No theater experience required - all welcome! Your favorite “practically perfect” nanny takes center stage in this Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious adventure. Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and classic Walt Disney film, “Disney’s Mary Poppins Jr.” takes us on a Jolly Holiday to London, England. There, we share a series of magically memorable moments with beloved classical characters, including Mary Poppins, Bert, and the Banks family. Youth are invited to showcase their talents onstage and bring this fantastical and familiar tale to life. Through a partnership with the Zephyr Theatre, all participants will receive quality training in dance, voice, music and acting. Additionally, this program will strengthen social and emotional skills, as we explore collaborative storytelling and social relationships in a supportive and positive environment. This program will conclude with 2 public performances to allow family and friends to share in their children’s newfound confidence and skill set. Those interested in principal roles will audition during the first week of rehearsal with a song of their choice. Those auditioning may bring a musical track or perform acapella. Director: Rebecca Thavis, has a degree in theater and education, and has taught at the Children’s Theatre and St. Paul Public Schools. She has also taught dance for five years and is excited to make her directorial debut with the Zephyr Theatre. Choreographer: Sharayah Lynn Russell, has been a professional actor, director, choreographer, stage manager, and musician since 2005. She co-founded LaMarca Theatre and has directed and choreographed for several theatre venues locally. Performances: Friday Aug 5 at 6:30 pm; Saturday Aug 6 at 2 pm Tickets: $5/adults; $2/youth & seniors (ticket prices support our ability to keep participant costs approachable). Performances will be held at the MS auditorium. For those youth who may be taking the Summer Stock Theater Camp and Mary Poppins, our Zephyr Theater performance team will modify the day for them on July 29 (Summer Stock performance day).
