Science reveals that food is associated with heart disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic diseases. Learn how a whole food, plant-based diet can prevent, reverse or treat the leading causes of death and disability. Sample two foods that support health and receive a copy of Dick's Vegan Cookbook with 30 recipes. Key take aways include:  A plant-based diet trumps Alzheimer's, for carriers of the Apoe4 Alzheimer's gene.  Eating soy reduces breast cancer risk, especially for carriers of the mutated BRCA genes.  Eating animal protein causes the liver to release, in excess, insulin like growth factor, a cancer-promoting hormone.

Learn the 7 basic needs for human survival, and how you can meet those needs out in the woods. Identifying how to avoid finding yourself in an emergency situation is the focus. Leave knowing what items to bring along with you in a basic emergency kit. Test your knowledge and learn new skills in this hands-on class.
  • Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Certification

    Designed for the lay rescuerParticipants are not required to have any medical training prior to class. Learn adult, child and infant CPR, choking and AED skills. Participants will receive a Heartsaver CPR AED Completion Card. Cost includes student workbook $16 value.
  • PiYo LIVE (all fitness levels)

    Classes are an intense cardio workout that combine the core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility of yoga movements, all in one class. Classes are a great way to create a strong community of support, camaraderie, and body-defining breakthroughs among members. Instructor works closely with participants to modify exercises, showing progressions and regressions so everyone is challenged. Results can definitely be expected. Bring a mat.

    Walkers are invited to walk the halls of Centennial High School’s west building 6-8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Dec. 5-March 27 (not Dec. 26, 28, March 6, 8). No pre-registration required. Check in with the building’s site supervisor upon arrival.
