Day 1 – Welcome to Colorado! Denver to Colorado Springs

Your adventure begins as you touch down in the vibrant city of Denver! When you schedule your flight to Denver, plan to arrive by 1:00 PM MST. Meet your Western Leisure tour director and fellow travelers. From Denver, we travel south to beautiful Colorado Springs, nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains. This afternoon, enjoy a fascinating visit to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum, one of the most inspiring attractions in the country. Celebrate the spirit of Team USA as you explore interactive exhibits that highlight the dedication, perseverance, and triumph of America’s greatest athletes. Afterward, check into the Radisson Hotel Colorado Springs Airport for a relaxing two-night stay. Day 2 – Conquer the Heights! Pikes Peak & Garden of the Gods

Prepare for an exhilarating day in Pikes Peak Country! Kick things off with an unforgettable ride on the Pike’s Peak Cog Railway, climbing to an awe-inspiring 14,115 feet! Take in the sweeping panoramic views and breathe in the crisp mountain air—you’ll understand why this peak inspired “America the Beautiful.” Next, head to the Garden of the Gods Trading Post for some shopping and a delicious lunch on your own. But the adventure doesn’t stop there! This afternoon, explore the Garden of the Gods, where towering red rock formations rise dramatically against the blue Colorado sky. Day 3 – Ride the Rails & Explore the Royal Gorge!

Enjoy a leisurely morning before heading out for another spectacular day! First, hop aboard the legendary Royal Gorge Route Railroad, where you’ll glide through the dramatic Arkansas River Gorge - a true engineering marvel! After the thrilling ride, it’s off to Great Sand Dunes National Park, home to the tallest sand dunes in North America. Marvel at these massive golden dunes set against a backdrop of snowcapped peaks. Day 4 – Step Back in Time on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad!

“All aboard!” Today, experience one of the most breathtaking train journeys in North America - the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. Step back in time as you ride in the Deluxe Car, crossing jawdropping trestles, canyons, and mountain passes. Day 5 – Unravel the Mysteries of Ancient Mesa Verde!

Journey into the past as we explore the ancient cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde National Park! Walk in the footsteps of the Anasazi, the mysterious “Ancient Ones” who built these incredible dwellings into the cliffs nearly 1,000 years ago. Gain insight into their fascinating culture at the Visitor Center, then embark on a guided tour of the most famous ruins. After an eye-opening day, return to Durango for an evening of Western fun at the Bar D Chuckwagon Supper, featuring lively entertainment and a hearty cowboy-style meal. Day 6 – Ride the Legendary Durango & Silverton Railroad!

Day 7 – Spectacular Scenery & A Grand Farewell in Denver!

Wake up to more natural wonders as we visit Colorado National Monument, home to towering monoliths, deep canyons, and sweeping desert vistas. Next, embark on a stunning drive through the Heart of the Rockies, crossing Loveland Pass as we descend into the vibrant city of Denver. Along the way, enjoy a stop at the picturesque Vail Village for lunch and sightseeing. Upon arrival in Denver, check into your hotel and freshen up for a special farewell dinner, where we’ll reminisce about the unforgettable moments we’ve shared. Day 8 – Homeward Bound, But Memories for a Lifetime!

It’s time to say goodbye to the breathtaking landscapes and new friends made along the way. A transfer to Denver Airport is arranged for your journey home, but the memories of your Ultimate Colorado Train Adventure will last a lifetime! (B)
CONSIDERATIONS:
This tour requires average physical activity. Participants should be in good health, able to climb stairs and walk reasonable distances, possibly over uneven ground, or unpaved trails. This tour covers areas of higher altitudes including overnight locations above 6,000 ft. and touring above 9,000 ft. with a half day trip to the top of Pike’s Peak which is 14,000 ft.
Passengers are responsible for booking their own airline tickets. Arrive in Denver before 1:00 p.m. on 9/19/26. If you wish to arrive the day before, the pre-night room rate is $205. On 9/26/26 the hotel offers complimentary airport shuttle service. The Embassy Suites - Denver Airport shuttle service to the airport operates 24 hour every half hour.

End of trip gratuities to your Tour Director and Bus Driver are not included in the trip price. Western Leisure Tours recommend they be extended on an individual basis. Industry standard for a Tour Director is $8.00 - $10.00 per day and for the Bus Driver is $6.00 - $8.00 per day.
