Our hands-on camp will immerse your child into the enchanting realm of foam, slime, and potions as we unravel the secrets of science. Prepare to concoct elixirs that magically change color, create your own bouncy balls, and whip up some homemade Pop Rocks that fizz in your mouth. Each experiment combines the perfect blend of creativity and scientific exploration. And while having a blast, you’ll uncover a wealth of scientific facts and theories transforming learning into a bubbling cauldron of pure excitement. Please pack a nut free snack and beverage each day.
  • Summer Academy Ocean Adventures (Entering Grades 3-4 by invitation only)

    Have a 'whale of a time' exploring the deep blue sea this summer! You will learn about ocean life in all parts of the sea, from the shallow tide pools to the deep, dark abyss! We have a variety of science experiments/lessons, games, art projects, and videos/movies to share with you! You will create a costume for a play, and take a trip to the Sea Life Aquarium! While there, we hope to take a special class about habitats and adaptations and then go behind the scenes to see how the animals are fed and cared for. These 6 days will 'shore-ly' make you want to dance in your 'flippers!' We hope to ‘sea’ you there! Our field trip will be to Sealife Aquarium at the Mall of America. Please note that due to instructor availability, this class has a few changes in the regular schedule. Class starts Thursday, June 13 and you meet on Friday, June 14. Registration is by invitation only and is non refundable after May 13. Teacher: Michelle Gilsrud. During the school year, Michelle Gilsrud is a teacher of gifted and talented students in the Anoka Hennepin School District. In the summertime, she has a boundless passion for ocean exploration and looks forward to igniting curiosity and appreciation for the wonders of the sea. Through interactive science lessons, creative projects, and critical thinking, students are led to be aspiring oceanographers in their exploration of our world’s most precious resource.   • Summer Academy Coding (Entering Grades 4-5 by invitation only)

    Students engage in fun, hands-on coding activities to learn the basics of computer science using drag-and-drop coding blocks. Students use Scratch and Hour of Code to explore coding in a fun, stress-free environment. Students will create a basic game by the end of the two week class. Our field trip will be to the Bakken Museum. Registration is by invitation only and is non refundable after May 13. Hi, my name is Angie Anderson and I’ve been teaching for 15 years. The last 9 years I have taught Cybrary at Centerville Elementary. One of my favorite topics to teach is coding.
